TRAINING PARA-LEGAL PERSONNEL

LCHR has trained more than 480 Para-Legal Personnel in Assam and in Tripura states of India. This programme is aimed at training energetic young unemployed persons to be bare-foot lawyers in the villages to deal with legal issues at the grass-roots level. Over a period of 1 year, the Para-Legal Personnel undergo training through the workshops and field work. Through constant monitoring and evaluation they have been assisted by experts to take up issues and problems of the people around them. The trained Para-Legal Personnel have been doing commendable work in their own villages by approaching concerned authorities to settle issues relating to the poor and the ordinary people through negotiations. They have succeeded to some extent to reduce corruption and accompany ordinary people in their fight for justice.
