STRENGTHENING ADVOCACY CAPACITY OF VOLUNTARY ORGANIZATIONS

“Creating and Strengthening Advocacy Capacity of Voluntary Organizations in Northeast India” designed to facilitate voluntary organizations to create and to strengthen their advocacy capacity to promote human rights, justice and peace in all their developmental and charitable projects. The programme was carried on for a period of one year in which 40 Voluntary Organizations from Northeast India participated in 2 North-East Regional level workshops and 10 cluster level workshops. During the first regional level workshop, 5 clusters were formed among the participant organizations based on geographical location namely Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal, Manipur-Nagaland and Mizoram-Tripura. The theme of the first regional level workshop was “Right to Life and Role of Voluntary Organizations” held at North East Diocesan Social Forum (NEDSF), Guwahati from August 18 to 22, 2007. The second regional level workshop was held in the month of February 2008 from 8 to 12 at Bosco Reach Out (BRO), Guwahati on “Combating Corruption through Right to Information”.
