TRAINING AND EDUCATION OF CATECHISTS ON ‘CHILD RIGHTS’
Training and Education of Catechists on ‘Child Rights’ was organized by Legal Cell for Human Rights (LCHR) under the support of ‘Kindermissionswerk’ on 6th March 2022 at Mary Help of Christian Church, Margherita (Assam).
Training programme began at 10:00 a.m. with lighting of the lamp and a short prayer by Fr. Emile Baa (Parish Priest). Fr. Emile Baa welcomed Adv. Owen C SJ (Director of LCHR), LCHR resource team and all the participants for the training programme. Adv. Owen C. SJ. explained the purpose of the training and education of Catechists on ‘Child Rights’ and its importance for the growth and development of the society.
There were 459 participants including youth, women and the faithfuls of Margherita Parish participated in the training programme. They were trained on the following topics –
- ‘The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009’
- ‘The Prohibition of Child Marriage Act 2006’
- ‘The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012’
- ‘The Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act 1986’
The resource persons were –

- Mr. Albert Kerketta, B.A.LL.B (H)
Adv. Sheela Nawrang spoke on ‘Mission Basundhara’ and on land laws to the participants and concluded the training programme with vote of thanks and final blessings by Fr. Emil Baa.
